A New Inclusive Playground for Goldsworth Park

Our vision is to create a bigger, better and fully inclusive playground at Goldsworth Park Lake. Since covid, outdoor space and enjoyment is more crucial than ever for both mental and physical health. An exciting new play area would encourage children of all ages and abilities to enjoy the outdoors, play together and lead active lives.

Our Objectives

Fully inclusive

A playground should have something for everyone, regardless of age or ability. No child should ever be left out. The existing playground does not cater well to all ages and there is nothing for wheelchair users. In fact there isn't currently a single wheelchair accessible swing or roundabout at any public playground in Woking. The new design would include fun low-level equipment for little ones, challenging and engaging equipment for older children and inclusive play opportunities for disabled children.

A larger space

The lake is hugely popular with local families and needs a larger play area that is suited to the number of daily visitors. The existing playground is well used but it becomes overcrowded, especially at weekends and after school. We propose to extend the fenced area to create a larger space with a better variety of play equipment.

Chosen by the children

We want local children to be at the heart of the planning process and help shape the design every step of the way, so that it is a true community effort. The final playground design will be decided after a full public consultation but we have included a few ideas below.
